About the Role

As Chief Engineer, you will lead our Engineering TEAM and oversee the maintenance, safety, functionality, and overall operation of the hotel’s facilities, equipment, and building systems. You’ll play an essential role in keeping our property safe, comfortable, efficient, and well-maintained for both our guests and associates.

This is a hands-on leadership position that combines technical expertise, problem-solving, and team development. You’ll oversee preventative maintenance, coordinate repairs and improvement projects, troubleshoot building systems, and ensure our hotel operates smoothly behind the scenes.

Schedule: Nights, weekends, and holidays are required.

Responsibilities

As Chief Engineer, you will:

• Lead, supervise, and support the hotel Engineering and Maintenance TEAM

• Oversee the daily maintenance, repair, and upkeep of guest rooms, public areas, back-of-house spaces, building systems, and grounds

• Develop, implement, and maintain an effective preventative maintenance program

• Ensure preventative maintenance tasks, inspections, and required servicing are completed accurately and on schedule

• Coordinate and oversee repairs, maintenance projects, renovations, and property improvements

• Prioritize maintenance requests and ensure issues are addressed promptly and professionally

• Conduct regular property inspections to identify safety, maintenance, and repair needs

• Troubleshoot and maintain mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and other hotel building systems

• Ensure equipment, tools, machinery, and building systems are operated safely and maintained properly

• Assign daily responsibilities and provide direction to Engineering and Maintenance associates

• Train, coach, and develop TEAM members on maintenance procedures, equipment operation, safety, and hotel standards

• Maintain accurate maintenance records, logs, inspections, and documentation

• Ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations, building codes, manufacturer requirements, and hotel standards

• Work closely with the General Manager and Operations TEAM to support efficient day-to-day hotel operations

• Respond to guest and operational maintenance concerns in a timely, professional, and service-focused manner

• Assist with emergency situations, building-related issues, and after-hours maintenance needs as required

• Monitor engineering supplies, tools, equipment, and inventory as needed

• Maintain a safe, organized, clean, and professional work environment

• Promote a TEAM culture built on accountability, communication, respect, and continuous improvement

Requirements

• 3–4 years of Engineering or Maintenance Management experience, preferably in a luxury or full-service hotel environment

• Previous hotel engineering experience strongly preferred

• High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree or technical/trade school experience preferred

• Must possess any government-required licenses, certificates, or permits applicable to the position

• Strong knowledge of building maintenance, mechanical systems, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and hotel equipment

• Ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a variety of building and grounds equipment

• Ability to safely operate mechanical equipment, hand tools, and power tools

• Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and develop others in proper repair, maintenance, and safety procedures

• Strong organizational, leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Excellent attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple projects, work orders, and maintenance needs

• Ability to work independently while effectively leading and supporting a TEAM

• Excellent English communication skills, including the ability to read, write, and speak fluently

• Bilingual skills are a plus

• Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required
