A hotel night auditor manages the overnight front desk operations, blending guest services with daily financial accounting.Working shifts typically from 11 PM to 7 AM, they process late arrivals, reconcile the day’s transactions, ensure property security, and prepare the hotel for the morning shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Reconcile Accounts: Audit and balance all daily financial transactions across the property, including room charges, restaurant/bar tabs, and incidental expenses.
- Close the Day: Process end-of-day reports, roll the hotel's operating date, and back up electronic data.
- Verify Payments: Balance cash drawers, run credit card batches, and generate financial reports for management.
- Front Desk Operations: Handle late check-ins, process early check-outs, and issue room keys.
- Customer Support: Answer guest calls, manage multi-line switchboards, and field inquiries, requests, or complaints.
- Concierge Duties: Provide information about hotel amenities, local dining, and transportation options.
- Property Security: Monitor security cameras, secure the premises, and conduct routine patrols of the property.
- Emergency Protocols: Print contingency lists, coordinate with emergency services, and enforce safety procedures in the event of an incident.
- Cross-Department Communication: Coordinate with maintenance and housekeeping to resolve immediate guest issues and ensure common areas are stocked and clean.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Experience: Typically requires a High School diploma (or GED) and previous hotel front desk or bookkeeping experience.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Property Management Systems (PMS) (e.g., Opera) and Point of Sale (POS) systems, along with strong data entry skills.
- Soft Skills: Ability to work autonomously during quiet hours, strong problem-solving skills to de-escalate conflicts, and meticulous attention to detail with numbers.
