Description

Essential Job Functions

Prepare and cook menu items for banquets, meetings, and special events according to established recipes, portion controls, and presentation standards

Assist with large-scale food production for plated meals, buffets, and action stations

Set up and break down banquet service areas as needed, including hot boxes, chafers, and plating lines

Maintain proper food handling, sanitation, and safety standards in compliance with local health regulations and company policies

Ensure all food is prepared and served at proper temperatures and within required timelines

Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating food products (FIFO)

Communicate effectively with Banquet Chefs, Sous Chefs, and service staff to ensure smooth event execution

Maintain the cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations, equipment, and storage areas

Assist with inventory control and minimize food waste

Follow all hotel safety policies, including proper use of equipment and reporting of hazards

Additional Responsibilities

Support other kitchen areas as needed based on business levels

Attend required meetings, trainings, and safety briefings

Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to resort appearance standards

Perform other duties as assigned by culinary leadership

Qualifications

Minimum of 1 year of experience as a cook in a banquet, hotel, or high-volume kitchen environment preferred

Knowledge of banquet food preparation, buffet setup, and plated service

Ability to work flexible schedules, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Strong understanding of food safety and sanitation practices

Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Team-oriented with a positive attitude and strong work ethic

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds

Ability to work in hot, cold, and wet kitchen environments

Manual dexterity to handle kitchen equipment and utensils

Work Environment

This position requires working in a professional kitchen environment with exposure to heat, sharp tools, and commercial kitchen equipment. Flexibility is required based on event schedules and business demands.
