BASIC FUNCTION: The Maintenance/Housekeeping role is a dual position that ensures the hotel's appearance, cleanliness, and functionality is of the highest level. On the Maintenance shifts, you'll be responsible for maintaining and repairing tasks from plumbing and electrical systems to HVAC and refrigeration units. The Housekeeping duties include but are not limited to cleaning, organizing, taking care of linen, and inspecting rooms.

QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, TRAINING, & WORK EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years' experience in a similar job in the hospitality industry.
  • Associate degree in a related field like HVAC or electrical engineering is a plus.
  • Previous supervisor experience preferred.
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
  • Ability to handle demanding schedules and provide technical support on process and quality improvement. 
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move items weighing up to 25lbs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Identifies problems, initiates work orders, completes assigned work orders, and makes all necessary repairs related to their expertise.
  2. Performs preventative maintenance and maintains logs in an organized manner.
  3. Complete the duty rounds checklists and correct noted problems.
  4. Identify and prioritize maintenance needs and provide timely and efficient solutions to any issues that arise. 
  5. Responsible for ordering items and maintaining inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
  6. Perform routine maintenance and repair work throughout the hotel. 
  7. Respond quickly to guest requests or complaints related to maintenance issues. 
  8. Ensure all guest rooms and common areas are in good condition.
  9. Stay current with safety regulations and carry out regular safety checks. 
  10. Coordinate with other hotel staff to ensure maintenance work does not disrupt guests. 
  11. Communicate regularly with management regarding maintenance needs and progress. 
  12. Train and supervise junior maintenance staff as needed.
  13. Collects soiled linen for laundering.
  14. Cleans rugs, carpets and upholstered furniture using a vacuum cleaner, broom and carpet shampoo machine. 
  15. Cleans hallways, washes walls and ceiling, moves furniture and turns mattresses.
  16. Sweeps, mops, scrubs, waxes and polishes floors.
  17. Dusts and polish metalwork.
  18. Maintains housekeeping carts.
  19. Removes trash collected by room attendants.
  20. Deliver towels, cribs, cots and other items to guest rooms on request.
  21. Sort linen and stock room attendant closets.
  22. Report missing and/or found articles, damage or merchandise problems to the housekeeping supervisors.
  23. Respond in all times in a friendly, helpful manner to guests and other colleagues.
  24. Must be able to work independently and as a team player

MARGINAL FUNCTIONS:

  1. Performs other tasks and duties as necessary. 

ENVIRONMENT:

Works in all areas of the property, both inside and outside, possibly in inclement weather. Must be able to work at various heights on ladders, roofs, etc.
