Job Description

Position Summary:
The Senior Group Sales Manager is responsible for generating group business (primarily meetings, conferences, conventions, and special events) for the hotel. This role focuses on maximizing revenue through strategic sales initiatives, relationship-building, proactive prospecting, and successful event execution, while ensuring an exceptional guest experience aligned with brand standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Generation:
  • Proactively identify, qualify, and solicit new group business to achieve personal and hotel revenue goals.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, third-party meeting planners, corporate accounts, and associations.
  • Conduct site inspections, attend networking events, trade shows, and client entertainment to build business.
  • Respond promptly to all leads, proposals, and inquiries to close group sales efficiently.
  • Account Management:
  • Maintain a detailed account management system including activities, bookings, and revenue potential.
  • Prepare contracts, proposals, and group agreements ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with clients to maximize profitability while meeting client needs.
  • Monitor group room blocks and booking pace to ensure optimal yield management.
  • Reporting and Analysis:
  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales reports for management.
  • Analyse market trends and competitor activities to identify new opportunities.
  • Maintain accurate records of all sales activities and client interactions in CRM systems.
  • Leadership and Mentorship:
  • Assist in mentoring and developing junior sales team members.
  • Serve as a senior resource and leader within the sales team, modelling professional behaviour and high standards of performance.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in hospitality management, Business Administration, Marketing, or related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of successful hotel group sales experience, preferably in a full-service or luxury environment.
  • Strong knowledge of sales techniques, hospitality operations, and event planning.
  • Proven track record of exceeding group sales goals and managing key accounts.
  • Proficiency with CRM software (e.g., Delphi, Opera Sales & Catering, Salesforce) and MS Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally for sales calls and industry events as needed.
